introductory

Since we're all so brilliant and overeducated and (at least in my case) not entirely employed, it only makes sense to start a consulting firm.

And when you're starting a consulting firm, obviously the first thing to do is start a blog.

I'm trying to start a linguistics nonprofit with some other linguists in Missoula and created a blog for that for us to communicate with each other and post news items or other things of interest that we want to share and store all in one place. Also, I love to make new blahgs. The world definitely needs more blahgs. So I started this one.

I know like a whole bunch of people who have pursued higher degrees in linguistics. Most haven't quite finished their doctorates. But during our years of (often torturous) schooling, we have developed superb research, writing, and logic skills, as well as other marketable stuff. Unfortunately we haven't learned marketing.

Here is what I want to do with my life: play with words (i.e. editing).

Here is something I have found out: in order to be hired as a consultant at the University of Montana, you cannot have worked as a university or state employee for the previous six months.

(Also, you don't have to post here, and we don't have to start a consulting firm all together. We could just have a personal group blahg and talk about our lives. For example: Guess what? My house got insulation today!)
